Intimate (Genital/Bikini Line/Vaginal) Shaving Techniques
Shaving your intimate area with an electric shaver:
1) Choose a good quality shaver like the Seiko Cleancut. Opt for a good quality shaver rather than a cheap one that is more likely to cause nicks, soreness and razor burns in this sensitive area. There are a lot of poorer quality Chinese made shavers on the market that you should definitely avoid in our opinion.
2) Trim pubic hair first, especially if it is thick and long. Use a bikini trimmer like the Remington trimmer or small safety blade scissors to trim down the hair to stubble length. Electric shavers will not perform very well if the pubic hair is too long. It is essential to use a good trimmer first. This is the single most common reason for getting poor results from a pubic hair shaver!
3) After trimming pubic hair to stubble length, take a shower, making sure your pubic area is well thoroughly cleaned and soaked. The warm water will soften the hair making it easier to shave.
4) Thoroughly dry the pubic area with a towel and apply talcum powder to keep the area moisture free.
5) Pull the skin taut with your free hand and then shave without applying pressure.
6) Shave upwards against the direction of the hair growth.
7) If the shaver becomes clogged with hair, Remove the head by unscrewing it and clean the head and blades with a small brush (supplied with most shavers).
8) Rinse off the pubic area and look for any remaining patches of hair. Repeat steps 4-7 described above.
9) Keep the shaven area well moisturised between shaves by using a skin moisturiser or baby lotion. This will reduce the uncomfortable feeling of stubble which may occur between shaves.
10) You may want to consider using a hair inhibitor product like Kalo to reduce the frequency of shaving. It can take some time before hair growth reduction is achieved, but it does make hair softer and thus easier to shave.
